Closure of the Mud Crab Fishing Season
The National Fisheries Authority wishes to advise all licensed buyers, licensed exporters, local mud crab collectors and resource owners in the mud crab fishery that the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for the year 2021 has now been reached. Therefore, all stakeholders are informed that as of the date of this notice, the Mud Crab Fishery is now CLOSED until further notice.
This notice is in accordance with the National Mud Crab Fishery Management Plan 2019 [G813] under section 5b.1(c) that the buying and exporting of mud crabs will cease when the TACs have been reached.
Therefore, all commercial trade of mud crabs is prohibited until further notice. All licensed companies are urged to submit their daily purchase record data to the National Fisheries Authority.
