Kaiwi harassment allegations to be investigated, says Pokanis
An internal investigation which started yesterday is currently underway by the Correctional Services to ascertain allegations of abuse on remand detainee and accused murderer Bhosip Kaiwi.
Kaiwi was charged on the 30th of June 2020 with the wilful murder of his partner, the late Jenelyn Kennedy.
Correctional Service Commissioner Stephen Pokanis confirmed to have learnt of the allegation via social media and immediately directed for an investigation into the allegations.
Commissioner Pokanis is expecting a brief report to be furnished and presented to him this week for deliberation.
I really don’t have any brief on hand relating to the allegations; who actually assaulted him, whether inmates or officers but we should know by this week.
– Commissioner Pokanis
Commissioner Pokanis said the murder suspect, like any criminal, has the liberty to go to the courts if they feel their rights have been breached in any way.
If they are harmed, if they are abused physically or verbally, they have a right to go to the courts.
