PNG Power Ltd Ban on Infinity TPS 2.5mm FT3025 Electrical Cables
PNG Power Ltd (PPL) has placed a ban on the Infinity TPS 2.5mm twin and earth flat cable model FT3025 with batch numbers INFME081112 and Infinity brand Olsen cable INFH190311.
The electrical cables have been found to have an issue with the insulation sheathing PVC compound which may lead to a reduction in the insulation integrity. In simple terms, you have a high chance of getting electrocuted when working with them.
According to a public notice by PPL:
This ban is imposed in accordance with Section 41 of the Electrical Industry Act with immediate effect in Papua New Guinea and prohibits the sale, hiring or exposure or advertisement of sale or hire of the above specified cables intended, suggested or designed for use in or for the purposes of or connection to any electrical installation, unless approved by the Regulators and is stamped or labelled as prescribed.
PPL is advising the public to not to use or discontinue their use, and to return them to their point of sale for refund or replacement.
The electrical industry regulator has also advised that the ban does not include other cable ranges under the Infinity or Olsen brand.
This particular range is also banned in Australia since 2013.
