Contact classes in tertiary institutes to be suspended

Port Moresby – All contact classes in tertiary institutes within the National Capital District (NCD) will be suspended for the duration of the lock-down.
In a letter to the Secretary for the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) Prof. Jan Czuba, the controller David Manning directed that all tertiary institution contact classes be suspended until 12 August, 2020.
Mr Manning also stated that a decision would be made prior to mentioned date if classes would resume or the suspension extended.
Meanwhile, Secretary Czuba, in a letter circular to staff stated that the pandemic is more severe because it affects our health and lives – and that there so much more than needs to be known about it.
A 14 day lock down has been ordered for the NCD after a spike in COVID-19 cases and the death of patient in quarantine yesterday.
