BSP conducts Financial Literacy training for Cricket PNG
Savings, the importance of putting some money aside and spending less than what one earns were highlighted to Cricket PNG Staff this week in Port Moresby by BSP’s Banking Education Manager, Gabriel Nangile.
Cricket PNG ran a two-day Conference this week, from Wednesday 10th to Friday 12th February, 2021, which saw Regional Managers and Development Officers in NCD and Central attend.
BSP being one of the proud sponsors of Cricket PNG’s BSP School Kriket Program was part of the conference and conducted a Financial Literacy Training session with nine officers and regional managers.
Mr Nangile encouraged the participants to have smart goals in life and be willing to reduce their expenses in order to have some savings for unexpected expenses like funeral expenses and emergencies.
Smart saving goals could mean applying the 70, 20,10 ratio – that’s 70 per cent expenses, 20 percent savings and 10 per cent tithe.

Cricket PNG Game Development Manager & CPNG Warden- Margaret Sibona said Cricket PNG while adhering to Covid-19 protocols and social distancing is adjusting its programs by travelling to provinces to run the Cricket conferences.
The conference also saw a young female Cricket Development Officer, Henao Samuel from NCD join her male counterpart in the Financial Literacy Training. More female Cricket Development Officers are expected in the upcoming Conferences in other centres.
BSP Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Amelia Minnopu said BSP and Cricket PNG have enjoyed a 12-year partnership since 2009, a partnership that will continue this year, 2021.
Our partnership is valued at K420, 000 per annum with almost K5 million already invested into the BSP School Kricket program. Our BSP Branch network supports the local Kricket blasts and clinics all over the country – a program that promotes and grows upcoming cricketers for Papua New Guinea.
