Game Review: Nono Islands [Mobile]
Nono Island – The fun game
Nono Islands is a free mobile game by Illusion Labs and in my opinion, one of the best games around. The objective is to find hidden treasures, collect gold pieces, keys and tokens, and players can choose one of four available characters to be their avatars; Andreé, Amelia, Wilbur and Gertrude.
The characters are controlled by either tapping them or swiping in the direction you want them to go. However, you cannot move backward at an angle or rotate.
There are six (6) stages in each level or island and a bonus stage that only appears if you’ve found all the pieces of the map. It makes no difference if you play the seventh stage or not but it’s the only place where you can get an extra token.
After each objective is complete, the player can explore another island. However, there are also many perils along the way including falling boulders, deadly sea urchins, elusive octopuses (which you only get to see their tentacles), booby traps and savage natives.
The game is different from others which seem to have a single strategy and employs a different challenge for every level. Unlike other games I’ve reviewed like Batman: Arkham Origins and Minion Run, this game seems to up the ante and challenge me on a more intellectual level. However, it’s the first of its genre that I’ve tried so my comparison could be a little off.
Now, within the game are actually two sets of islands that you can explore Nono Islands and the Lost Islands. I’m not sure if you will be able to access before completing all levels because I only discovered it after finishing Nono Islands. However, its a bonus you can enjoy.
Only for iOS. Sorry
Nono Islands is definitely an adventure game I could recommend to pass the time and unfortunately is only available in iOS version.
