Game Review: Batman – Arkham Origins [Mobile]
Batman: Arkham Origins for mobile is a beat ’em up action game that lets you beat on the bad guys and clean up Gotham. It is free-to-play fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.
The game comes in iOS and Android format and is a spin off to the 2013 video game of the same name. However, don’t expect too much.
Arkham Origins relies a lot on the arcade combat style and has a very thin story line. In fact, it becomes a bore after a while. I mean kicking heads and punching lights are great but it couldn’t keep my attention for long.
You challenge a number of villains including Bane, Firefly, Electrocutioner, Black Mask and Copperhead and win rewards which allow you to upgrade your suite and equipment. Unfortunately, that pretty much what you will be doing for all levels of the game. There are a few bonus challenges that pop up but it doesn’t do much.
Another, more notable annoyance is the advertisements that keep popping up. It’s understandable that this is a necessary price to pay for a ‘free’ game. However, the frequency and time of the ads are a real kick in the nuts.
In my opinion, this game is a two.
