Telikom PNG data and voice services restored
Disrupted voice and data services by Telikom PNG have been fully restored thanks to swift attendance by the service provider’s technical personnel.
The disruption affecting areas along the Waigani Drive started on midday Tuesday as a result of government contracted Huawei Technologies damaging the main fibre-optic cables.
Services were restored around 10am on Wednesday.
Telikom PNG has also cautioned government and NGO contractors to seek advice before commencing contractual works in areas that could have major communications cables.
Meanwhile, voice services to Kokopo and East New Britain (ENB) are affected due to the installation of a new switch at the Kokopo exchange. However, data and Citifon services are not affected.
Restoration of voice services are being undertaken by Telikom engineers with its vendors.
