Google and WhatsApp Strike Storage Deal
Google and WhatsApp have reached a new storage agreement allowing unlimited storage for WhatsApp users, according to Business Insider South Africa. However, it comes with a catch – users may loose their existing data.Â
The Google Drive Team also sent a brief broadcast to their users regarding this agreement, stating that the policy would take effect for all users on November 22, 2018.
This policy will go into effect for all users on November 12, 2018 though some users may see the quota benefits earlier. To avoid the loss of any backups, we recommend that people manually back up WhatsApp before November 12, 2018.

The agreement now means that WhatsApp data backed up to Google Drive will not be counted against the free 15 GB storage that Google offers. However, they (Google) have asked users to backup their current WhatsApp client.
