4 students die in vehicle accident
Four (4) students and an infant were reportedly killed in a vehicle accident outside Malalaua station in Gulf Province, The National reports.Â
According to Gulf Provincial Police Commander, Inspector Silva Sika, the vehicle belonged to GMI Lodge in the province was transporting goods and passengers to Kerema town when the incident occurred. Â
He said there were 15 passengers on board and the 4 who died were all male students returning from from a sporting event at Malalaua High School.Â
The school that these students attended has not been made public and the cause of the accident has not yet been determined. However, Inspector Sika said it is assumed that the driver was unable to negotiate a bend in high speed resulting in the vehicle going off the road.Â
Identities of the 4 and the infant have not been made public.Â
