Remote Desktop Connection Failed with Time Sync Issues
I tried to logging to our domain server via Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) and failed several times. This message kept coming up,
“Remote Desktop cannot verify the identity of the remote computer because there is a time or date difference between your computer and the remote computer. Make sure your computer’s clock is set to the correct time and then try connecting again. If the problem occurs again, contact your network administrator or the owner of the remote computer.”
As it happens, this is because Windows security uses Kerberos protocol and tickets; time synchronization is an important part of it.
In order to log in, use the IP address instead and once inside change the time zone to match your computer.
