Leading ICT provider, Datec, acquired by Telikom PNG
One of Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) leading ICT provider, Datec (PNG) Ltd, has been acquired by the national telecommunication company Telikom PNG, subject to regulatory approval. The news was made public on Telikom’s website and also promoted on Skerah.com.
Telikom chairman, Mahesh Patel, said the acquisition was important to the company as it embarked on restructuring its retail business while wholesale would be transferred to Dataco Ltd.
Datec, a subsidiary of Steamships Trading Co., has been a market leader in ICT in the country since 1985 providing a wide range of services including application development, website design, education and training, and network and server solutions.

The acquisition comes right after Telikom was awarded exclusive rights to provide telecommunications for the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby
