COVID-19 vaccinations starts this weekend
The first 8,000 Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in the country today, on board a Royal Australian Air Force aircraft.
This comes amidst a mixed reaction from the people, many taking to social media expressing negative views about the side effects of the vaccine.
At the same time, authorities and leaders have also come out, volunteering to take a shot to assure people there’s nothing to fear.
National Pandemic Controller, David Manning, says the vaccination is expected to start this weekend for frontline health workers.
He was speaking at a media briefing in Port Moresby yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Manning, says PNG and Australia are finalizing the roll-out plan for the vaccine.
Also on board, the R-A-A-F flight will be Australian health specialists, who will assist local specialists, in responding to COVID-19.
