Lae Secondary receives keys for new multi-purpose hall
Lae Secondary School formally received the keys for its new multiple-purpose hall from the contractor today.
The multi-purpose school hall was built by a locally owned construction company – Green Energy & Engineering at a cost of K3.6 million on a 40-60 agreement where the school pays 40% of the total cost to the contractor and later meet the remaining 60% after completion of the project.
With the support from the supporting parents and local MP Hon John Rosso, the school under the leadership of Board Chairman Stephen Mesa and Principal Christopher Salakhau Raymond managed to pay K2.2 million to Green Energy.
Upon receiving the keys and Certificate Of Completion (COC) from the contractor, Principal Raymond said he is very positive to have the balance of K1.4 million sorted soon, if not this year, next year.
The hall has 3 office units, a canteen, shower and toilet wings, kitchen, storage rooms, stage and a space that can accommodate more than 4 500 heads.
Through the Lae City Authority (LCA) Board, Lae MP has committed a total funding of K500 000 towards this project. So far, the school received K300 000 and the balance will be paid as soon as funding is made available.
Apart from Lae Secondary School, LCA will also be supporting Busu, Bugandi and Malahang Technical Secondary School. Lae MP says he will be consulting with the schools to identify what resources are needed to provide funding. Primary and elementary schools will also be funded but not all at once due to limitation on funding.
Minister Rosso covey his gratitude on behalf of LCA Board and people of Lae City to the contractor Green Energy for delivering the quality project on time on the 40-60 arrangement.
He also congratulates and commend Lae Secondary School Administration under Christopher Raymond and Board under Stephen Mesa for the strong management practices which has resulted in many infrastructure developments taking place in the school for the past years till present despite problems faced with TFF.
