PNG health authorities report first possible COVID-19 case
Papua New Guinea’s Minister for Health, HIV & AIDS has released a statement claiming their first possible case of a person infected with the corona virus (COVID-19).
According to the statement, the possible victim is a 45 year old male who arrived in Port Moresby on the 13th of March. His travel history originated in Madrid, Barcelona, Istanbul and then entered PNG through Singapore and traveled to Lae.
According to the Minister, close contacts to the identified male have been placed under quarantine, despite not showing any symptoms of the virus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently elevated the viral infection to a pandemic level with over 179 000 reported cases and over 7000 deaths.
