Google launched extra services
Google has launched a couple of new features – search by image and search by voice – at the Inside Search event in San Fransisco this week.
Search by image allows you to upload an image and search for it on the web. There are 3 ways this service can be used: you can upload the image; you can also drag and drop the images in a search box or if the image is online, you can paste the image URL in the search box.
The image will then be analyzed by Google servers which will attempt to identify the image and then display search results related to it. The technology behind it is the similar to Google Goggles for Smartphones.
The search by voice option, enables you to search by talking instead of typing – provided you have microphone. This feature has been available on Adroid devices but Goolge is now making it available for desktops.
Extensions for Chome and Firefox will also be released.
The service has not been made live. You will know when it is live when you see a camera icon at the right of your search box.
