School gets surprise from construction company
Students from the Hohola Demonstration Primary School in the Nation’s Capital received boxes of stationeries from the China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC).
Speaking during the donation ceremony at the school yesterday, CHEC general manager of the South Pacific Division Deng Bo said the donation is to pay for the inconvenience that the company had caused the school with regards to the road construction activities near the school.
Due to the road construction, it might cause a lot of inconvenience for this school and that is why we are giving this donation.

Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial Counselor, Liu Linlin said China loves PNG which is why it is trying to give back to the country.
They are part company but they are also company citizens. Since they are citizens working and living here with you, they have come to donate to you because they want to be together with all of you for a long time.

Meanwhile, school head teacher Rotona Girana thanked the company for the timely donations which he said would go a long way to help the school.
We have 1809 students and a total of 42 teachers here in the school; this donation would go a long way in helping the school.

Mr Rotona said the school didn’t apply for donations or seek aid from the company and when they offered the stationery as donations it was a surprise to them.
Instead of us looking for aid, it came looking for us,” he said. “It’s something we didn’t expect.
