Classification of Commercial Advertisement for Publishing & Broadcast
This notice serves as directive under Section 19 of the Classification of Publication (Censorship) Act of 1989 by the Chief Censor to all Television Stations, Radio Stations and Digital Billboard Owners to submit all commercial advertisements to the Office of Censorship for screening, classification and licensing for publishing and broadcasting.
Our mission is to create an environment that protects our people from indecent information and materials to promote self-respect and human decency.
Commercial Advertisements for presentation on public mediums of communication must ensure that children are not exposed to indecent information and expression and that the content is not offensive to a reasonable adult person.
Section 46 (2) states “An application for classification of advertising matter shall –
- Be in the prescribed form; and
- Be lodged with the Chief Censor; and
- Be accompanied by –
- The prescribed fee; and
- A copy of the advertising matter.

The Office of Censorship will conduct inspections, of all Public Premises to ensure compliance with the Chief Censor’s Directive.
