Microsoft has finally announced that it will stop support for Windows XP after 3 years. The countdown began on the 11th of July and will end in 1081st day somewhere in 2014.
The software giant is doing this even though sales for Windows 7 have just eclipsed the XP market. They had initially tried doing ending support for XP in 2009, however stiff opposition forced them to continue.
Newer and updated software from Microsoft is trying to push users to the later Operating Systems (OS) with Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) only compatible with Windows Vista and onward.
Microsoft has even come up with a countdown gadget – counting down the days until XP expires. Unfortunately and ironically, according to tech website Tom’s Hardware, the gadget does not work on XP!
