DWU student arrested for campus death
A student at Divine Word University (DWU) in Madang has been arrested for the suspicious death of final year Business Studies student, Christopher Saoni, 28, from West Sepik, Post Courier reports.
Saoni’s body was found hanging from the lecture complex early in the morning of August 15 in an apparent suicide. However, police have now established that the victim was killed before being hung up for public display.
According to Madang Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Ben Neneo, investigators have gathered enough evidence to arrest Neville Kuduk, a third year ICT student in connection to the death. Â
Neneo also said the exact motive for the killing has not been determined yet but police suspect that it may be related to occult activity. He also said the suspect could have had accomplices.Â
The manner in which the body was left hanging from a lecture two storey building does not fit a scenario where there was only one culprit.

On August 17, Madang Governor Peter Yama called for the investigation to be expedited after hearing of an altercation on the school campus a day before the body was discovered.Â
Meanwhile, the university has remained silent over the matter.
