How to Restrict Unwanted Devices Accessing Your Telikom MiFi
Have you ever had people connecting to your MiFi device without your knowledge? This can be easily done using smartphones – as long as one is already connected to the device. Fortunately, you can stop this from happening with the steps outlined in this post.
In this example, I will be restricting wifi access to a Telikom 4G LTE MiFi (ZLT M30 4G MiFi) and allowing only 1 device to connect.
Log into the Admin Console
The first thing you need to do is connect to the admin console. The console is web based to you can access it through your favorite browser. As of writing this, the console IP is 192.168.13.1 so in your browser type http://192.168.13.1
Once you are inside, log in using the default admin credentials which can be found in the booklet supplied with the device. The default credentials are:
Username | admin |
Password | admin |
It should be noted that it is also best practice to change the default password immediately.
WiFi Settings
Once you are inside, select Device Settings >> Wi-Fi Settings
In Wi-Fi Settings, select MAC Filter. By default, it should be set to Disabled. Click on the drop-down list and select Whitelist.
Add your device MAC then click on Apply – and you are set!
Now, when any device with your WiFi password tries to connect, they will be booted off and will not be able to connect.
