Price Regulation of Certain Goods and Services
The ICCC wishes to inform valued government stakeholders, business community and the general public, of the National Emergency Order No. 19 regarding Price Regulation of Certain Goods and Services.
The importance of this Order is for Prices of Goods and Services not to be increased by more than 5%. Shop owners, wholesale and retail businesses shall not increase the prices of goods and services listed in Schedule 1 & 2 in excess of 5% during the National Emergency.
Schedule 1 Goods
- Rice
- Flour
- Sugar
- Fresh produce (animal products, fruits and vegetables both import and local)
- Baby Formula
- Milk and milk products
- Soap (both bar and liquid)
- Fuel (those not price controlled such as, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), zoom, and aviation fuel)
- Household battery
- Matches and gas lighters
- Hand sanitizer
- Latex gloves
- Bottled water
- Cooking oil
- Tinned Fish
- Tinned Meat
- Noodles
- Biscuits
- Tea, coffee
- Household Bleach, disinfectants, and detergents
- Toilet rolls/tissues
- Frozen chicken products
- Frozen meat products
- Frozen sausages
- Eggs; and
- Wipes (both adult and baby wipes, all brands)
Schedule 2 Services
- Air fares (domestic and international)
- Medical and health services
- Telecommunication products
- Water, sewerage and garbage Rates
- Electricity Rates
- Banking and Financial Service Fees
Failure to comply with this Order will result in a fine of K5,000 and for repeat offenders, an additional fine of K10,000.00 and/or a penalty under the Emergency Laws.
The public is encouraged to report non-compliance with this Emergency Order to the ICCC.
