BPW PNG LNG In-Country Scholarship for Higher Education
Business and Professional Women’s Association – PNG LNG Scholarship aims to provide education and training across tertiary and vocational training platforms for students (male and female) in the project area communities of the PNG LNG Project.
Its main intention is to provide opportunity for students in the Project area to further their education so they can contribute to the development of their provinces. The scholarships are provided in partnership with ExxonMobil PNG Limited, operator of the PNG LNG Project.
What are the eligibility criteria?
Applicants accepted at a TVET or vocational institution must:
- Already be enrolled at a TVET or vocational center in Papua New Guinea (PNG);
- Have a copy of grade 10 or 12 certificate (for 1st year students);
- Two recent semester reports must be provided (for 2nd and 3rd year students);
- Have a character reference from your local church leader or councilor from your village or community (for 1st year students);
- Be a PNG citizen and from one of the communities in the PNG LNG Project areas;
- Have a copy of NID birth certificate.
Applicants accepted into a tertiary institution must:
- Already enrolled at a tertiary institution in Papua New Guinea.
- Have a copy of grade 12 certificate (for 1st year tertiary institution student)
- Two recent semester reports must be provided (for 2nd to 3rd or 4th year student) – showing latest GPA
- Have a character reference from your church leader or councilor from your village or community (for 1st year student)
- Have a character reference from your tertiary institution (for 2nd to 3rd or 4th year student)
- Be a PNG citizen but specifically be from one of the communities in the PNG LNG Project areas.
- Have a copy of birth certificate.
- Demonstrate ca commitment to return to their home province upon completion of their studies.
Note: Incomplete Applications will not be accepted.
What are the benefits?
The scholarship includes:
- Payment of full tuition fees
- On-campus board and accommodation (where applicable)
- One off return travel costs between home and institution (where applicable) at beginning of course and after completion and graduation from course.
What are the conditions of this scholarship?
- Applicants are offered a scholarship will be asked to sign a contract declaring they will comply with the conditions of the scholarship.
- The scholarship recipient maintains at least an average of C or a GPA of 2.0 during the course of their study.
- The scholarship recipient must be willing to attend BPW monthly meeting and be involved in activities organized by the BPW where possible.
- The scholarship recipient must be prepared to have his/her details released to organizations that provide financial support to BPW for scholarships, and used for BPW promotional purposes.
How do I apply?
To be considered, applicants must:
- Complete an application form;
- Submit all required education qualifications and documents listed in eligibility criteria;
- Submit a letter of acceptance or confirmation (if continuing student) from your tertiary institution;
- Submit a certified copy of their NID;
- Submit an ID size photo, and;
- A one page statement of why you should qualify for this scholarship. Please include here, how long you have stayed in your community.
