Parents meet to address school fights in Lae
Parents of students attending Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School in Lae are urged to attend an urgent meeting this weekend to address vital school issues.
School principal Saya Daniel told parents who went to the school on September 4 that continuous fighting among students is disturbing classes.
Mr Daniel told those gathered that all parents must attend the meeting and to decide on measures to stop the fights.
He said various options taken by the school administration and provincial education division to address the fights have been exhausted.
Police are also tired of chasing and stopping students from fighting
Saya Daniel
Mr Daniel said the only hope is to get parents, education officers, Lutheran church representatives and education stakeholders to meet and decide on the fate of the school.
He said teachers are committed to set high standards in the school this academic year despite the students infighting.
Mr Daniel said the meeting is critical to outline clearly the resolutions that must be implemented to keep the school in operation.
I want to see more than 1000 parents and guardians of students on September 8 at the school campus. Parents must contribute their ideas so we can address these ill-discipline students’ behaviours and find the root cause of their actions.
Mr Daniel
He said parents must not blame the school administration and police because the authorities have done their part but the students were still disobedient.
A single mother said parents were to be blamed for ill-discipline of their children while in school.
