PPC-1 submarine cable restored
Excellent news from Telikom PNG, the Pacific Pipe Cable 1 (PPC-1) submarine cable linking PNG (Madang) to Guam and Sydney has been fully restored.
According to Telikom, all international telephone and internet service are now fully functional, and they thanked their loyal clients for their patience.
The PPC-1 cable went down in early February. It was reported that a fault was detected approximately 4,000kms from Guam at a depth of more than 2km.
The cable operator, TPG, advised last month that it would take at least a month to repair the cable. According to ComputerWorld, they also rerouted all affected traffic via the Southern Cross and Japan Cable system.
Consumers of Telikom PNG services can contact their customer care centre of (+675) 345 6789 or email call.centre@telikompng.com.pg for further information.
