Repairing Outlook Web App Authentication Issue in Exchange 2010
We recently converted our CAS/DC/Exchange server to HP’s virtual environment which resulted in our users being unable to login to Outlook Web.
Now before going any further, you must know that this solution was done for Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I’m not sure if this will work on other systems.
The authentication /logon page would load but every time users tried to log on it would say OWA might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new address.
There were no error logs or any issues reported. This was because the service was running. However, authenticating through a web form was not enabled.
So the solution is simple enough.
Logon to the server running exchange with administrator privileges and make sure Microsoft Exchange Forms-Based Authentication service is set to automatic and running. If it’s not, then turn it on.
Now log off, open your web-browser and type the address of your OWA which is usually in this format http://server/owa and login.
