Samsung denies Galaxy S4 launch
Samsung have come out to deny reports that they are planning to launch the Galaxy S4 in February of 2013. According to CNET news, Samsung tweeted that the news was untrue and asked why the rumors were started. The tweet was written in Korean.
CNET also suggest that it does not do any good for the company to launch a successor so soon. However, more leaks and rumors are expected to surface given the brands popularity and constant media attention during these last few months.
The rumored S4 is supposed to succeed the Samsung Galaxy S3 with specifications that seem too similar to the iPhone 5 changes i.e., a large screen, 4G LTE compatibility and the latest version of Android (which ever that may be). However, the rumors might be part of Samsung’s ad campaign that mocks Apple’s smartphone.
The Telegraph stated that Samsung greeted the iPhone 5 with an aggressive ad campaign mocking the smartphone’s upgraded features and comparing it unfavorably to the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Samsung has greeted the introduction of Apple’s iPhone 5 with an aggressive advertising campaign, mocking its upgraded features and comparing it unfavorably with the Galaxy S3, which has been available for months already.
The ad runs with the tagline, “it doesn’t take a genius” – a tasteless swipe against the help at Apple Stores. It also draws attention to the larger screen, longer battery life and the other features that the iPhone 5 lacks. It ends with the line “the next big thing is already here”
However, despite the effort, arch nemesis Apple, has proudly announced over two million presale orders for the iPhone 5 and have predicted over 49 million unit sales in the fourth quarter leading up to Christmas. The huge demand has forced orders back as far as October.
