Ok Tedi Development Foundation launches website
The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) launched their new and improved website at the end of August this year.
The site aims to inform the general public and interested stakeholders about the social and developmental issues confronting the people of Western province and how they are dealing with them.
Ok Tedi Development Foundation’s CEO, Ian Middleton, as reported in the Post Courier, stated that the launching of the site symbolizes a significant achievement for the foundation as it rapidly evolves into being an important delivery vehicle.
He also said the site showcased the magnificent work done by the foundation in conjunction with key partnership with the local communities, especially the 156 villages along the Fly River corridor who benefit from the Ok Tedi Community Mine Continuation Agreement (OTCMCA). Furthermore, he said the website will provide a snapshot of social and developmental challenges faced by the province and garner help and support on how to address them.
Middleton said OTDF had grown rapidly in the last couple of years and had the duty to address the issues faced by the people of Western province. He hoped the website could provide opportunities for interested people and organizations to help deliver “real change” to the people.
The Ok Tedi Development Foundation website would be an avenue to inform and seek support from key agencies and partners from both within the country and the international community. Middleton also assured donors that their contributions would “flow directly to those people that really need it.”
We are serious about development and we have shown that through the many projects we are doing in livelihood development, accessibility, heath and education.
He also added that the website was “a means to foster greater partnership with individuals and organizations” who support the self-sustainability of the Western province communities, in particular those within the CMCA.
The website is provides a window for potential donors who wish to provide support through philanthropic donations, materials for buildings, knowledge or volunteers.
The foundation’s major supporters are the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), the Western Provincial Government, the Ian Middleton Foundation, Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML), the Department of Mineral Policy and Geo-hazard Management (DMPGM).
The website is at www.otdfpng.org and was launched in August.
