OTML Getting Tough on Email Users
Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) is cracking down on the inappropriate use of emails and internet access.
According to a toksave from the Managing Director and CEO, Nigel Parker, the staffs have been wasting a lot of time and resources sending inappropriate emails – to the extent of 8000 emails per day! The toksave stated that the company allowed “reasonable personal access”.This was determined by clear policies and guidelines with regard to the acceptability of the material and that business use must take precedence over other use.
It further stated that as of May 21, external emails would only be limited to the General Manager, Executive Manager, Managers, Team Coordinators and staff with a direct need to send external emails. Staff found to be abusing the system would face disciplinary action.
