Dell to acquire EMC Corporation
Dell Inc. and EMC have signed a definitive agreement in which Dell will acquire EMC Corporation. However, VMWare will remain a publicly traded company.
EMC Corporation is the majority shareholder of VMWare; a cloud and visualization service company founded in 1998 and claims to be the first to commercially successfully virtualize an x86 architecture.
In an email today, VMWare Australia /NZ CEO Pat Gelsinger stated that the company’s mission will not change.
VMware’s mission and strategy remain unchanged: to provide you, our customers, significant value through software-defined computing, networking and storage solutions, and our cloud, mobile, and desktop offerings. Our leadership team will remain in place and we are as committed as ever to helping you address your most pressing business and IT challenges.
He further added that the company was looking to develop more valuable solutions for their customer and would continue to invest in ‘strong partner ecosystems’ and assured consumers that the agreement was made with them in mind.
