How to Install Google Web Fonts in Zorin OS 12
Zorin OS is great and comes with a lot of fonts installed. However, I am not used to the default fonts that come with it. I, on the other hand, use Google a lot and like their fonts. So I decided to install Google Web Fonts to spice up my video editing and documents.
TypeCatcher
I did some research and found an application called TypeCatcher which could do this. It was designed by Andrew Starr-Bochicchio; a community manager at Digital Ocean.
According to a number of sources, it is the best and easiest way to install Google Web Fonts on Ubuntu – and seeing as Zorin OS is Ubuntu based – I knew it would be the best option for me too.
Installing TypeCatcher in Terminal
One of the best things about Linux based systems is the ability to install applications using the terminal.
sudo apt install typecatcher
It would be a good idea to run an update before installation and after.
sudo apt update
Downloading Google Web Fonts (of Your Choice)
TypeCatcher is now installed, but the fonts are not on your system yet. The application gives you the ability to preview which fonts you want to use and then download them. This cuts down on the clutter.
In Zorin OS, you can find TypeCatcher in the Accessories menu. You application can easily be opened using terminal.
sudo typecatcher
Installing Google Web Fonts in Zorin OS is very easy using TypeCatcher. The application is also very easy to use and should make it easier for you to customize your fonts.
