Disappointing turnout at ICT expo
It was quite sad to see the disappointing turnout at the PNGCS ICT Expo at the Holiday Inn. Personally, I feel offended that the major ICT players did not turn up. However, the handful that showed up did have some good information and products to showcase to the public.
Those that turned up were Central Business Systems (CBS), Digitec, Telikom, Institute of Business Studies (IBS), International Training Institute (ITI) and Rural Tech Development (RTD) who stole the show with their educational robots.
RTD had a number of other items on display including a working Raspberry Pi computer.
CBS had a number of multi-function printers and copiers on display. They also had a bio-metric finger print scanner that can be used as a time-sheet and office access system
Digitec also had a number of printer and copiers. They also showcased a number of their notebooks.
Telikom had its range of devices including the WiMax, ADSL+ modem, tablets, MiFi and they also had flyers of their internet plans.
ITI and IBS showcased information about their ICT courses, and PNGCS had a stall for people wanting to become members or know more about the organization.
Unfortunately, the absence of other major ICT players including ICT regulator NICTA was disappointing but kudos should be given to those who turned up.
