Belty the Smart Belt
We know about smartphones, smart watches, smart cars, smart cities and many other smart gadgets but now we’ve learnt that there is a smart belt called Belty that is out there and could be your best friend soon.
Belty is a smart belt wearable tech that automatically adjusts itself according to your waist line. If you eat too much during the day, it will automatically adjust to a comfortable length, or when you sit etc. However, it does more than just hold your pants.
The Verge describes it as ‘part health tracker’, as it has a built in accelerometer, pedometer and gyroscope which syncs with a mobile app that allows data on your activities to be collected and monitored.
The belt may even give you a nudge in the gut if you’ve been sitting too long, but only if you ask it, according to its website www.wearbelty.com
The belt was showcased at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year and got a lot of attention from the public. CNET reported the device turning heads:
And every single one of those gadget makers wishes they could do what Belty did Sunday night, which is turn heads and, in this particular instance, get camera operators to zoom in uncomfortably on the waistlines of complete strangers.
It is unclear when the product will be ready for the public or what the pricing would be like but we are sure the bulky buckle will be a bit more refined.
The prototype wearable tech was developed by French start-up company Emiota and the name has got a lot of flak, mainly from TV hacks. However, as they say ‘any publicity is good publicity.’
