The Basic Limitations of Email
Quite often many people make the mistake of thinking that email is some sort of magic portal that you can send files through. Now, you can send files through email but there are limitations.
Here I will address the basic limitations of email and how you can work around them.
The first limitation is the types of file that can be sent via email. Now in most email systems there are certain restricted files that are not allowed to be sent or received. These files are usually programs and other file types that malicious (viruses) can be written in to.
The next limitation is size. Now this is one of the most common mistakes that people do; they try to send large files through emails. Emails like the snail mail, has a certain size requirement. If the file is too large then the system refuses to handle the file. In some cases where large files are constantly being sent to an email, the system could crash as a result.
Now the solution for these problems is simple. Upload the files to a file hosting site and share a link with whoever you are trying to share the file with. They simple click on the link and download the file.
This may sound like a little bit of extra work but it’s the best way.
There are many file upload/sharing sites available that provide free service. Some of them are:
- Hotfile.com;
- Rapidshare.com;
- Megaupload.com;
- Cramitin.in, and many more.
A good way to find these sites is to do a search on Google for ‘free file hosting’.
