Why not have a Robot Ball for Easter?
Easter is coming up and I know most of you have got eggs on your mind, but the truth is they are overrated. Every year we hide them for our kids to find, so why not make it more memorable and interesting this year by trying something literally different, like a ball for instance.
It is a smart robot ball that can be driven like a remote controlled car using Android or iOS devices connected to the unit over a Bluetooth connection. It can surprisingly make speeds up to 7.5km/h and the high tech toy is also waterproof and floats, plus small ridges on the surface actually allows it to swim.
The Sphero 2.0 has a sealed white shell and is powered by an ARM Cortex M3 processor with a collection of gyros and accelerometers. Of course, there is always the option of changing its colour with the Nubby covers (going for $14.99) which should give it also enhance its off-road capabilities as well as provide some protective padding.
The ball has two LEDs under the skin that glow when it is powered up and can be fine-tuned to virtually anything you like. It also comes with an inductive charger and gets approximately 1 hour of drive time fully charging which takes around 3 hours.
The toy’s website describes it as “One ball. Infinite ways to play” and they showcase that in the video below. They also have around 25 apps for this ball alone!
Now, the price tag of $129 might make you a bit less enthusiastic but tech toys have always been expensive, and kids will always find potential for the Sphero 2.0 beyond just a remote controlled robot ball.
