NICTA and Customs sign MoU
Papua New Guinea’s ICT regulatory body, NICTA or National Information and Communication Technology Authority, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Customs to regulate the import of unauthorized equipment into the country.
The MoU signed by NICTA chief executive officer (CEO), Charles Punaha, and Customs Commissioner, Ray Paul, ensures both parties can effectively and legally implement their duties.
The MoU creates provision for information sharing and data exchange between the two organizations.
NICTA and Customs will work together to ensure all equipment imported into the country meet the country’s ICT standards, requirements and approval, and all unregistered gadgets will be seized.
